Day 1 - the pre-beginning

This blog is to document how my Tourism English 1 Cyber class goes. And serve as a model for students.

I first starting dealing with this in late December, 2004. In consultation with campus systems administrator Ryu Ho-Youl, we chose moodle (something I'd heard of, and available in English) since WebCT and Blackboard were out of the price range of $0.00

We started by putting moodle on my notebook computer, with the thought that it would be uploaded when complete to the campus server. But my notebook has problems, crashing several times per day, and after one crash where all trial data was lost, we started over on the server. No real loss, since that was all tinkering, but as I said, "from now (then) I can't lose any data."

It's progressing well, though a bit slower than I had hoped. I haven't gotten the resources I'd hoped. Building activities isn't particularly difficult, though there is a learning curve. The teacher's manual (available from http://moodle.org) is particularly helpful. I'd started from printing out the help pages, which made things tough.

Enough for now, back to work! It's only 6:40pm, time to make some cup-ramyeon, use up my last rice from last night's dinner, and add a bit to moodle. Including screen captures of my set up of blogger!
